Pressent By The Royal Press - Behind The Scenes: Products

Pressent is a collaborative project between The Royal Press, a living polyglot museum located in the heart of Melacca, Malaysia, and Malaysian designers (Kongsi, Sha Ejin and Angel Wong) to greet the present with traditional letterpress. In an effort to breathe new life to the old craft of letterpressing The Royal Press and the designers sought new ways to interact with the tools and concept used before computers and inkjet printers. Pressent is a way for the team to teach letterpress and show that the craft still has its uses!

When Johannes Gutenberg invented it [letter pressing] in the 15th century, his intention was to make books more accessible to the people. With this project, we would like to do the same; which is to introduce the stories of traditional letterpress printing. To raise awareness among the people, in the relevance of today.
